Our experienced guides will lead you safely along a 5-kilometer route, sharing fascinating stories about the area’s geology, wildlife, and the unique natural history of the canyon. Along the way, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to take in the tranquil beauty of Lapland’s nature and capture amazing photos.

Program

  1. Meeting

    Meet your guide at our office which is easily spotted with the big logos on the windows. 

  2. Transportation

    Start the trip towards Korouoma with a1.5 hour drive by car. Along the way you will see stunning Lappish landscapes and also a power plant.
    You can also ask questions from the guide who will share their local knowledge happily.

  3. Hike Korouoma Canyon & Waterfalls

    Set off on a guided summer trek into Korouoma Canyon, framed by verdant forests and towering cliffs. Follow tranquil woodland paths for 2–3 hours, pausing to admire cascading waterfalls tumbling over ancient rock walls. Finish with a lakeside barbecue by the firepit, grilling sausages and sharing stories as the sun dips low.

  4. Trip back to Rovaniemi

    After the barbeque you will travel back to Rovaniemi. This is a great time to chat with your guide or take a nap so you are ready for your next adventures.

To make the most of your summer hike in Korouoma Canyon, here’s what we recommend packing (Please note that these are not required and are just nice bonuses):Layered Clothing: Even on warm days, temperatures can dip under the forest canopy or by waterfalls—bring a light fleece or windbreaker.
Waterproof Jacket: Summer showers in Lapland can roll in unexpectedly; a packable rain shell will keep you dry.
Sturdy Hiking Shoes & Socks: Good grip and ankle support are essential on rocky trails and near slippery falls.
Sun Protection: Sunglasses, a broad-brimmed hat, and high-SPF sunscreen will guard you during exposed stretches.
Insect Repellent: Mosquitoes and black flies can be active in July and August—spray on before you head out.
Reusable Water Bottle: Stay hydrated on the 5 km route—there are places to refill from crystal-clear streams.
Camera or Smartphone: You won’t want to miss capturing the dramatic cliffs and cascading waterfalls!
