About this experience
This is the only food tasting experience in Rovaniemi – offering you an authentic and immersive way to discover Finnish cuisine. On this guided restaurant tasting tour in the city center, you’ll visit five carefully selected restaurants – including hidden gems most visitors never find – spending about 30 minutes at each stop. Together, the tasting-sized portions create a full Finnish menu: from a starter platter and traditional salmon soup to sautéed reindeer, grilled delicacies, and a sweet Finnish dessert with coffee or tea. Because every great food tour deserves a sweet ending – take home a handmade chocolate surprise!
Along the way, your guide and the restaurant staff will share stories about Finnish food traditions, northern ingredients, and local life. You’ll also get recommendations for Finnish drinks that pair perfectly with the dishes. Water is included in the price, and additional drinks – including alcoholic beverages – can be purchased directly from the restaurants. Vegetarian options are also available upon request. Meet at Rovaniemi Insider
Meet your guide at Korkalonkatu 36 — look for the big windows with Rovaniemi Insider logos. We’ll do a quick intro and set off together.
First stop — City welcome & seasonal starter
A nearby restaurant opens the tasting with a seasonal starter that introduces local flavours and ingredients. Expect about 30 minutes here; water is included and other drinks can be purchased if you wish.
Second stop — Classic Finnish grill vibe
At a short stroll-away spot you’ll sample a hearty, popular-style dish typical to the region. This stop includes water, and you’ll also have the option of milk or a soft drink — additional drinks are available to buy.
Third stop — Traditional flavours explained
In a cosy, traditional setting you’ll taste a plate that highlights long-standing northern recipes while staff share sourcing and food stories. Water is included; alcoholic or extra soft drinks can be bought on site.
Fourth stop — Hearty northern main
Enjoy a warming, locally rooted main in an intimate restaurant where the guide and server explain sourcing and traditions behind the flavours. Water is included; feel free to order extra drinks directly from the restaurant.
Final stop — Sweet finish with coffee or tea
The tour ends at a charming café for a classic Finnish sweet treat paired with coffee or tea (both included). It’s a relaxed finish point to chat, get tips, and ask for drink or restaurant recommendations.
